An Attempted Robbery in Mexico-Bikepacking with John and Mira-Part 2

We’re traveling on the Trans Mexico route from Mazatlan to Durango, and eating as many Gorditas as possible. In this episode, we ride further up into the Sierra Madres and have an unfortunate encounter with a shifty kid looking to steal our phones. It was a spooky moment, but in the end, nothing happened. The threat of danger stayed with me all day, however. I’ve been robbed before (machete encounter in Guatemala) and it’s scary as hell. I like to think that Mira Magic got us out of this debacle. She’s our protector. We met one bad guy in Mexico, but it’s the hundreds of other friendly encounters that will forever stick with me. VIVA MEXICO!
